Pre-shot routine for putting
When you have chosen your line and decided on the type of putt you are going to hit, take a practice stroke next to your ball, looking at the
hole, to program your mind for the distance of the putt. By doing this your eyes register the distance to the target and your brain calculates
how much energy is required. For an uphill putt, take your practice stroke further from the hole than your ball lies to account for the added
force you will need because of the slope. If it is a downhill putt, stand closer to the hole to program hitting the putt easier.
Practice - Look at the hole drill:
Take your stance and simply stroke your putt while looking at the hole instead of your ball. This will help you stay focused on your target
instead of thinking too much about the mechanics of your stroke.
